Gizmodo Reviews The BlackBerry Curve 8900 (Javelin)

Gizmodo got their hands on an AT&T branded BlackBerry Curve 8900. It looks like AT&T will have a big seller on it’s hands…

RIM excels at many things, but keeping secrets ain’t one of ‘em, so we’d eyeballed the BlackBerry Curve 8900 (nee Javelin) quite a bit before this AT&T-branded one dropped in our laps. It’s a Bolder version of the current Curve that improves it in basically every way: Lighter, tighter, but more powerful-and it feels like a phone that was produced in 2008, not when you were still keeping your 2006 resolutions.

Like a lot of BlackBerry users, I can’t wait until the BlackBerry Storm comes out, however, I know that a lot of Verizon subscribers want a new device but would prefer one with a physical keyboard.

I wonder how long it will take Verizon to get the BlackBerry Curve 8930?

AT&T branded? WTF? Thought this was destined for T-Mobile, since AT&T *demanded* a 3G Bold. What would they want with a Curve that’s “only” 2.5G? Really hope this hits T-mo soon if not first. They need a new BB (flip don’t count) to stay competitive. Had hoped RIM had learned the harsh ways of AT&T and would look for a new mistress.
(Cartman voice) Looks schweet!

The pic differs from the one posted in the BGR hands-on. Do we know which is more likely to be “almost release” hardware vs “beta” hardware?

How much “tighter” is the Javelin? ie dimensions compared to the curves we know (8300’s)?

Sorry but AT&T still has 3 times the BB users that TMO has, if not more. AT&T will always get the newest BB devices, with the exception of the Storm.

Exactly right gquaglia, AT&T is RIM’s largest provider in the US, it only makes sense that RIM would try to first serve AT&T and the largest amount of it’s customers.

Will Verizon get the Blackberry Javelin? I hope so because I really like it and it will indeed be a big seller on the Verizon network. What is the BlackBerry Curve 8930? Is it the Javelin also?
