Free MSN Messenger Client for BlackBerry: eMSNLite

by Robb Dunewood on October 3, 2005 · 31 comments

FunRunGames, a software company focusing on Java based mobile phone games, has released eMSNLite, an MSN Messenger client with emoticon support, for FREE.

Features include:

  • MSN Instant Messaging
  • Emoticons
  • Invite Contacts
  • Add/Remove Contacts
  • Send email to contacts
  • Recieve and view photos

It is rare to see free BlackBerry software so we will mention again that eMSNLite is completely free. I haven’t had a chance take a look at it yet but as soon as I do, I will put up a full review. In the meantime, you can download it here.

Will this work on a BlackBerry 7250? I don’t know how to set this up, the download has .jar, .jad and .cod files none of which I think work with the 7250…anyone got any ideas?

Same here I don’t think this is going to work on our handheld…

Send yourself an email with the link to the jar file, then in your email click the link, once there you’ll see download and cancel options. Install starts immediately after download.

One of my msn accounts (hotmail accounts) has symbols in the password and won’t sign in using this program. My other signs in fine. I haven’t had time to go beyond that yet.

Better yet, I have a 7290 running v4.0.0.219, and all that I did was to create a file called ‘eMSN.alx’, paste the text at the bottom of this message into the file, and then use the Blackberry Desktop Manager Application Loader to load it onto my BlackBerry. Seems to work great!

So , how does this work. I put the app on the phone and it uses my data plan to get online. That I understand. But what is this about charging messages? You get charged text messages for every MSN message you send?

This was pretty easy for me and hope will work for you as well

Step 1.

Connect your Blackberry with your computer, my one is Blackberry bold, make sure you have Blackberry Desktop app install on the computer

Step 2.
Go to following link and click to download and select option for installing active X control, this will ask you for your BB security password (if any) and will install software on your device

Enjoy and dont forget to visit my website for more details http://www.nanois.ca

Cheers !!!
