Although I decided to return my BlackBerry Torch 9800, I am still a die-hard BlackBerry user and have switched back to my BlackBerry Storm 9530.  Whenever I switch devices I tend to blow away the device that I am switching to and reinstall my favorite apps.  Since I am always asked about what BlackBerry applications that I am running, I figured that I would create a list.

Jawbone has just released a free BlackBerry application for Jawbone Icon users called Jawbone Battery Meter for BlackBerry.  As the name implies, Jawbone Battery Meter for BlackBerry displays your Jawbone Icon’s remaining talk time with a little battery indicator in your devices status bar.  Unfortunately, Jawbone Battery Meter for BlackBerry is only available on the Jawbone Icon series of bluetooth headsets at this time.  Since Jawbones before the Icon series don’t tell you how much battery talk time you have left, Battery Meter would be not only a cool feature, but, a much needed one.

Dropbox for BlackBerry

We just got word that Dropbox for BlackBerry has been updated to beta 5 and 1000 test slots have been opened into the closed beta.  Dropbox is a cloud based file synchronization service that allows you to keep files synchronized between computers, the web, and various smartphones.

A post over on the Dropbox forums letting beta testers know that Dropbox for BlackBerry beta 5 is now available and that 1000 new test slots have been opened went up about 8 hours before this post, so, act fast if you want to try to get in.  I just got into the beta at about 10:30 a.m. EST, but, have no idea how many slots are left.

Even if you can’t get into the Dropbox for Blackberry beta, I highly recommend Dropbox to anyone that may ever need to access files on more than one computer.  You must  have a Dropbox account before you can get into the Dropbox for BlackBerry beta, so, why not give it a shot.  Dropbox is free, so, you definitely can’t beat the price.

SocialScope

I don’t talk about SocialScope, the third party Twitter/Facebook client for BlackBerry that has been in beta longer than most Google services, all that often simply because it is so hard for most BlackBerry users to get.  SocialScope is in closed beta and has been since December of 2008.

That being said, SocialScope has been updated and more Social Scope invites are coming later this week.  If you use Facebook and/or Twitter, stop what you are doing, head over to http://www.socialscope.net, and sign up for an invite into the private beta.  I can’t promise that you will get in, however, if you do, you will get to tinker around with arguably the best BlackBerry Facebook client I’ve ever seen.  The Twitter capabilities aren’t too shabby either…
