BlackBerry Forums member SanFrancisco has posted a detailed walk-through on how to change the color your BlackBerry Pearl or BlackBerry 8800 trackball complete with pretty high quality photos showing you exactly what to do.
This mod isn’t exactly like tricking your BlackBerry 8700 out in 18K gold, however, is pretty cool all the same.

I have tried that geek site and it said that the page cannot be found and have seen other post from other pol saying the same I want blue balls!or at least not that cheesey rainbow!any help?

U can change the color of the bb8800 has somthing2do with the setting of the bluetooth and back light settings. Don’t no wht I did but mine changed color lol
O and don’t b stupid and take apart ur phne and color ur led with a marker stupid people
ok this might seem scary to some but all you have to do is stick a needle or push pin between the right left and bottom of the silver part in the middle. pop open – take out – put a square of colored lense from cheap 3d glasses over the light keep steady put ball in put silver ring back over in and click closed its soo easy just be gentle mates.
do not use a sharpie or a soldering iron it will void your warranty

I tried the marker trick and practically destroyed my trackball and almost my BlackBerry. I gave up on that and ordered a colored trackball online (BlackBerryTrackball.com). It makes my phone look awesome and was so easy! I’d definitely recommend buying over trying to do it yourself!
