BlackBerry Storm 9530 OS 4.7.0.122 Now Avaiable From Bell Website

by Robb Dunewood on April 16, 2009 · 13 comments

OS 4.7.0.122 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530 has been available to Bell users as a update to BlackBerry Desktop Manager since last week, however, the latest Storm 9530 OS is now up on the web, essentially making it available to whomever wants to download it.

You can get OS 4.7.0.122 from Bell at the link below.  Just remember that if you are not a Bell BlackBerry Storm user (read Verizon or Telus users), your carrier will not support you if you run into any issues.

Download OS 4.7.0.122 for the BlackBerry Storm 9530 from Bell

Note: Installing 4.7.0.122 on something other than a Bell BlackBerry Storm is a little different than installing any of the many leaked OSs that have come before it.  Since .122 is carrier specific, you need to delete the vender.xml file from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader after installing .122 to your desktop.  Once you’ve done this just run loader.exe from the same directory.  There is no need to install via Desktop Manager.

Don’t do it. I am technically savvy, and this hurt me to my core. Wait patiently until V does it.

Cujo, mind explaining what your problem was instead of being vague? I installed it and haven’t had any problems except for a display issue after docking in bedside mode (split screen)…

Has anyone succeeded in downloading this version 4.7.0.122 (https://www.blackberry.com/SoftwareDownload/index.jsp?client=aMlbMFchE)? I’ve tried numerous times without being able to complete the task.

I have since the day this posted…had that one issue the next morning I already talked about, but after pulling the battery and rebooting, I haven’t had any problems since. Works beautifully, and unscientifically, I think the battery lasts longer. I used the link originally posted by the author. It just takes forever because (I assume) network traffic.

I had trouble downloading as well, but it worked like a charm when I right-clicked on the link provided and opened it in a new tab.

I installed it on my blackberry and I love it. Everything is much more responsive with minimal glitches. I strongly recommend dl-ing it.

Works like a charm!!!! Even I could do it! Just follow the instructions and tell Verizon to go fly a kite with their updates. I’ve got a Storm that I LOVE now. Best new fix is the camera! WOWOWOW. Just make sure you back your stuff up and it takes about 45 minutes or so.

This was easy. I just installed 4.7.0.132 last night and I am putting .122 back on my phone tonight. This is so far the best OS out there. It is atleast offical on one carrier.

WhiteBerry:
Why are you going back to .122? What problem(s) did you have?
Please advise.

@Jeff

You may have a screen freeze/shift where you need to pull the battery, but it is a decent release. .132 has this same issue as .122, but .122 seems to be the better of the two for now. I have Verizon and put .122 on it. Just remember to delete the vendor.xml file and back everything up.
