Seesmic for BlackBerry

Via their company blog yesterday, Seesmic updated BlackBerry users letting them know that the company would be ending support for Seesmic for BlackBerry on June 30th in favor of their more popular mobile operating systems like Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 7.  In my opinion, Seesmic for BlackBerry was no third party Twitter client to write home about in comparison to its Android and iOS counterparts, but, quite honestly, this is really the case for more cross platform BlackBerry  Twitter clients, as the iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7 versions are much better than their BlackBerry counterparts.

What should be noted here is that Seesmic is not some small-time, fly by night, development company just trying to get by.  With Twitter acquiring TweetDeck, Seesmic is easily one of  the biggest third-party social media tools companies on the web and they’ve decided that continuing to create tools for the BlackBerry, which, even though is losing market share, is growing in users with over 65 million of them, isn’t worth the development effort.

That’s very telling RIM… We hope you are paying attention…

Avatar Builder

Research in Motion has released a slick , new application for BlackBerry users that allows you to create custom avatars for BlackBerry Messenger.   The app is called Avatar Builder and it comes in two flavors…  Avatar Builder Girls Edition and Avatar Builder Guys Edition, both available for download from BlackBerry App World.

Create and customize an avatar to look just like you or anyone you want it to be! Choose your eyes, hair and your go-to outfit. Then throw in a few accessories, such as your earrings or yoga mat. Feel like you need a change? That’s just fine. Edit your avatar anytime to match your mood or style. Have fun with thousands of different looks, right at your fingertips.

When you’re done, save it, share it, set it as your BBM picture then make another one.

I haven’t had a chance to check out Avatar Builder just yet, but, something tells me that my BBM addicted daughter will be able to tell me all about this evening.  Avatar Builder is a free BlackBerry application and you can download your version of choice from the links below…
