BlackBerry Niagara And BlackBerry Apex News

by Robb Dunewood on October 6, 2008

We’ve got two pieces of news, one maybe you’ve heard before and one that you may have not about upcoming CDMA BlackBerrys coming out next year.

The first is the BlackBerry Niagara. As previously thought, the BlackBerry Niagara appears to be the CDMA variant of the BlackBerry Bold. The BlackBerry Niagara will support EVDO Rev A, Wi-Fi, a 3.2 MP digital camera, and should ship early in 2009.

I bet RIM wishes they could have gotten this device out this year with all the missed released dates of the BlackBerry Bold, however, that is for another post.

The second device is the BlackBerry Apex. It appears that this is the CDMA version of the BlackBerry Pearl Flip.

A CDMA Blackberry with WiFi? That would be awesome and I would be standing in line to get it (as long as it doesn’t have a crappy 8800 style keyboard) but let’s get back to reality: VZW will cripple WiFi because it result in less data plan usage.
