BlackBerry Magnum/Dakota Pics: First BlackBerry With A Touch Screen And Full Querty Keyboard

BlackBerry Magnum / Dakota Pictures

BlackBerry Magnum/Dakota  pictures are making their way around the interwebs.  Magnum, and more recently, Dakota, are code names for new BlackBerry devices with a full QWERTY keyboards as well as  touch screens.  We presume the different code names are for GSM/CDMA variants of the device.

The upcoming full QWERTY/touchscreen devices kind of look like a BlackBerry Bold, less a trackpad, and with a larger screen.  Personally, I am waiting for a BlackBerry with a full screen and slide out keyboard, however, I bet there will be a lot of buzz surround the Magnum / Dakota once it closer to being released.

I am digging this. QWERTY plus touchscreen has been around since the HP iPAQ (probably goes way before that too). But the form factor looks promising. I personally own a BlackBerry Bold 9000 and sometimes I wished I could just perform many actions right from the screen instead of using the trackball.

honestly the only time i feel the absence of a touch screen on my blackberry is when i am browsing websites. it gets boring using the trackball to scroll around the site. but other than that, i think it wont be that big of a difference. to me at least, but im sure alot of people will be really into it.

and i really think blackberry should be working more on the OS and less on new models. especially the browser. also a new fresh look to the UI won’t be a bad thing. it’s been pretty much the same UI since like 2004

Meh. Still waiting for the slideout keyboard version. The lack of one in a Blackberry has me definitely considering Android phones. Are you listening RIM? My Verizon contract expires in April. Tick. Tock.

I agree: the screen is too small for touch. I am not a fan of slider keyboards either.
