BlackBerry Flip-Phone from Samsung
If you visit the various BlackBerry message boards around the internet you will see that one of the most frequently asked questions is will Research in Motion ever come out with a flip-phone BlackBerry. The jury is still out on that one, however, Samsung, with their new SGH-T719 flip-phone with SureType and BlackBerry Connect, appears to be filling this void.
Today at the CTIA cell-phone trade show, Samsung officially announced their new SGH-T719. As you can see, the new device is a flip-phone or clamshell style device with a SureType keyboard similar to those found on the BlackBerry 71XX devices from RIM. The T719 will run BlackBerry Connect, allowing the device to send and receive the same way you do on an actual BlackBerry device.
The T719 will also feature a rotating, 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a speakerphone, Voice command dialing, and run on someone’s, possibly T-Mobile’s high-speed EDGE data network. The Samsung SGH-T719 will be available in the September time frame. A service provider has not been announced, however, speculation has it coming out on T-Mobile, hence the T in the name.
