BlackBerry 10 Android Runtime 4.2.2

One potential reason many top Android applications have been slow to port over to BlackBerry 10 is because the BlackBerry Android Runtime environment only supports 2.3.3 Gingerbread.

One of the tidbits out of yesterday’s BlackBerry Jam keynote at BlackBerry Live was that BlackBerry 10′s Android Runtime environment is on pace to support Android 4.2.2 JellyBean by the end of June.

Android 4.2.2, probably at least for the next few hours (Google I/O kicks off today), is the most current version of Android. This will undoubtedly lead to more Android ported apps hitting BlackBerry 10.
