AT&T And RIM Officially To Launch BlackBerry Bold Nov. 4th…

by Robb Dunewood on October 22, 2008 · 12 comments

So, for all of you that have been waiting since the summer, AT&T has finally decided to release the BlackBerry Bold. It’s coming out in less than two weeks on Tuesday, Nov. 4th.

Rant Alert!

Is is just me or do the collective marketing departments of AT&T and Research in Motion lack a single person with a frigging clue? These geniuses are releasing the Bold on same day as the general election.

Does anyone really think that the Bold will receive any type of news cycles on the same day as the biggest presidential election in United States history?  I simply don’t understand some of these decisions…

I am not in the U.S. so I am just glad it is coming out.

Well, Anil,

If you aren’t in the United States, then there is a very good chance that the Bold has been available wherever you are for some time now.

Robb, I agree with you. AT&T couldn’t have picked a worse day from a media coverage perspective.

Do cell phone (minus the iPhone and Android) really get that much press conference anyway?

The BlackBerry gets its fair amount, however, it won’t get any Tuesday after next. That date is just nonsensical to me…

Trying to beat Verizon’s Storm watch/launch party? :)

I could care less about the BlackBerry Bold at this point. I definitely would have gotten one if they came a few months ago but now I am going ot just hold out for the Storm. What is a few more weeks?

I am betting they put it on the 4th for just the reason mentioned – they don’t WANT any attention for it.

I believe Steve Jobs ran the marketing campaign for AT&T on the Bold device. Genius.

Hopefully, on that day, we’ll get a president in Obama that will really understand technology.

I don’t care for my Curve that much, so I was waiting for Bold to come out. But, at $299 I think it’s way over priced ($199–okay), so I see an IPhone in my future.
