Ads Coming Back To Free Version Of UberTwitter This Thursday

UberTwitter with Ads

UberTwitter, the popular BlackBerry Twitter client that saw a bit of user backlash when ads were added to Beta 4 only to be removed a day later, is adding them back to the free version of UberTwitter this Thursday.  This time, however, there will be a ad-less premium version that users who don’t want the ads can purchase.

We will be releasing a new version on Thursday and will be turning ads back on and offering a paid ad free option.

I still think that you will have a lot of UberTwitter users complain about the ads in the free version, however, their complaints won’t be nearly as legitimate since they could pay to have ads removed.  It will be interesting to see if UberTwitter can maintain its number one ranking on BlackBerry devices as there are several ad-less free Twitter clients for BlackBerry out there.

I still can’t believe they would put ads in a beta version. Or is the “premium” version being released as a final build? Why should anyone have to pay for a beta?

I don’t believe the next version will be beta…

I hope not. But I also hope it isn’t just beta 4 with the “beta” removed.

Was I the only one who wasn’t bothered by the ads? They were small… the app is free…

The ads didn’t bother me at all. Developers deserve to get paid, and this seems like a good compromise.

Eh, it’s hard to call them “small” on a screen already this size. Besides, I think the most valid point is that ads in a beta program are very premature.

free app with ad’s or pay a small amount and get the app without ad’s seems very simple.

I didn’t know anyone was having trouble understanding it.

I figure just deal with it…it is a Beta, but still a great FREE app! I don’t think I will pay for an ad free version and I’m not too concerned with the size of the ads…Storm screens ARE large =D

There are other betas that have ads, like Viigo. Even Gmail served ads while they were in beta. What’s the big deal?
