A Lot Of Peaple Are Searching For The Verizon BlackBerry Pearl

If the number of people searching for Verizon BlackBerry Pearl on Google is an indication of how popular the device is going to be the can you hear me now network will have a big hit on it’s hands in November.

RIMarkable just happens to rank number one (at the time of this posting) on Google for the search phrase “Verizon BlackBerry Pearl” and over the passed week we have seen a considerable amount of traffic, over 10,000 visitors, come in from that phrase and it’s variations.

Wow, I’m so amazingly excited for this device. All of the upgrades it is getting are the exact problems I had with the original pearl aka the bad keyboard is fixed, the camera is upgraded, the browser is better, new message display etc…this device will be a huge seeler especially if they offer a lower data plan maybe bundled with unlimited messaging. That would make the device fly off the shelves. Anyone know of new info anywhere else about the device, id really like some specifics

Not so fast Bob, its verizon and this verizon pearl is bound to be crippled worse than your ideas of short comings on the original pearl. Of course it will sell it’s a RIM Blackberry, it just won’t sell as many as the original Pearl or the 8120 will when released with upgrades and WiFi, with no crippling or features and functions removed.

btw have 3 of the original 8100’s not one complaint, although one would expect RIM to upgrade and refine devices heck they had over a year to do so since the 8100 was released.

What is the “bad keyboard” issue? I have never had a problem on the two that I have owned.

Me neither.

You make some great points hellno. About the keyboard thing, the original pearls for tmobile/at&t had keyboards that after some time wore down and they got pretty “mushy”, and had less feedback etc… the new verizon pearls keys are supposedly stronger and last longer than the others. Thats all I was talking about.

Aside from the GPS, I can’t see Verizon locking down much else on the Pearl. Maybe some Verizon crap may be added in, but I would assume that would be the extent of it.

As for the upgrades, nothing drastic enough to make this Pearl lover change, but if the device isn’t crippled, and the pricing drops as rumored, then switching to a better network would be reason enough. TMO’s customer service is the best, but unfortunately the coverage in the States doesn’t match the area and speed of verizons. Will be interesting to see the results come 11/1.

What would make this phone perfect is if it had tethering capability. It doesn’t appear, however, that the 8130 Pearl will have tethering fuctionality. Why not?

Actually Jim,

I believe that it will.

Don’t tease about the tethered modem, are you sure? The one other perfect piece would be the global ability, like the 8830. Does anyone know about this feature???
