3 To Launch BlackBerry Bold With Skype Client

I am still trying to dig for more details on this one, but, it would appear that UK based telco 3 will launch the BlackBerry Bold with a Skype Client able to make VoIP calls via the built-in WiFi.

I would have to imagine that you woudl be able to use the chat features of Skype over the 3’s GSM network but I wonder if they will block VOIP calls unless they go through a wireless connection.

If anyone knows any details about a BlackBerry Bold Skype Client, please leave us a comment.

No details of how they’d do it on the BB, but 3 already bundles Skype with some phones in the UK, letting them make Skype-to-Skype calls (but NOT SkypeOut) via its 3G network. There’s details on what they offer at http://threestore.three.co.uk/skype/

You will not see a pure VoIP client on any Blackberry or other smartphone, even though they are on 3G. See Blackberry Bold with a Skype Client? Introducing Some Truth into the Rumor.
