275,000-300,000 Verizon BlackBerry Tours Sold In 24 Hours

Verizon BlackBerry Tour

Although buzz in the blogosphere was pretty high, Verizon didn’t really hype up the release of the BlackBerry Tour 9630 this past Sunday.  That didn’t, however, keep the company from selling between 275,000 and 300,00 of the devices in its first 24 hours.

It will be interesting to see what the Sprint numbers were.

I received my Tour yesterday and I am pretty happy with it. As for Sprint, their sales will not be nearly as good since none of their stores had any Tours to sell.

    Way to go Sprint.

That is nothing compared to the 1 million plus the iPhone 3G S that Apple did it’s first weekend.

Actually it is… 1 million iPhones in 3-days with all the hype in the world. 300K BlackBerry Tours in 24 hours with not even a commercial.

We still need to see numbers from the other carriers, however, when it is all said and done, the BlackBerry Tour may be the fastest selling BlackBerry ever.

Exactly. Tour was not even advertised.

I think it would be a good idea to try to sell a new iPhone and a new BlackBerry but both RIM and Apple not to advertise it and see who sells more.

I know that this is a BlackBerry blog, so, maybe I am stating the obvious, but, there seems to be a lot of iPhone fans that may not be aware.

Research in Motion sells more BlackBerry devices than does Apple iPhones. Let me repeate that… Research in Motion sells more BlackBerry devices than does Apple iPhones.

Even though the iPhone usually is the number one selling smartphone in any given quarter, it has never outsold all the BlackBerrys sold collectively in any one given quarter.

The iPhone probably will outsell the Tour. It won’t come close to outselling the Tour, all the various models of the Pearl and the Curve, the Pearl Flip, the Curve 8900, the 8800, the Bold, and probably the Gemini which should be released later this quarter.

iPhone fans, don’t be bothered by being number 2. That is quite an accomplishment
