DJ’s really like the BlackBerry Torch. This is the second BlackBerry Torch Commercial telling us so. Here was the first…
Archives for September 2010
I initially heard on Squawk Box this morning that the BlackBerry Tablet may not be introduced at BlackBerry Devcon today, and, it would appear, that BGR has confirmed this. According to BGR’s source, Mike Lazaridis will focus on the next generation tablet OS platform, however, won’t focus on any hardware. “It would be unlikely for RIM to announce the mysterious tablet device during a developer event…”
Research in Motion’s BlackBerry developer conference, DEVCON 2010 kicks off today in San Francisco and runs through the 30th. Something tells me that their is going to plenty of BlackBerry news this week…

The Deal of the Day for September 27th is SmrtAlerts, the award winning Email and SMS notification application from SmrtGaurd. SmrtAlerts allows you to see who is emailing (with brief email body) while drafting another email, playing your favorite game or other tasks on your BlackBerry. Think of it kind of like the new email notification pop-up in Outlook or Gmail Notifier.
SmrtAlerts is regularly $9.99, but, as our Deal of the Day application is just $4.99, 50% off the regular price.
Although the BlackBerry Torch hasn’t (yet) lived up to analyst expectations, the first touch screen BlackBerry with a full QWERTY slide out keyboard seems to be picking up a bit of momentum. At least some of this momentum must be attributed to the massive marketing campaign that AT&T has put behind the 9800. There are already at least half a dozen or so BlackBerry Torch commercials and here are 3 more to be added to the lineup.
Research in Motion doesn’t usually take too long to release a device once it has received FCC approval and this is why we believe that clamshell BlackBerry Style 9670, which just received the green light from the FCC yesterday, will probably be officially introduced at Blackberry DevCon next week.
Research in Motion has been on a bit of a tear when it comes to their online presence. Within the last month they’ve updated the BlackBerry.com homepage, launched the Inside Blackberry Help Blog, created the BlackBerry Connection Podcast, and, now they have launched the Inside BlackBerry for Business Blog.
This blog will deliver insights from RIM subject matter experts about product information, best practices, and tips and tricks for business use of BlackBerry. It will also provide insights from RIM on small & medium business, healthcare, field and professional services’ use of BlackBerry, and discuss what’s new in mobility for these verticals.
Check out the BlackBerry for Business blog over at bizblog.blackberry.com…
According to a recent J.D. Power and Associates survey the BlackBerry ranks below the industry average when it comes to user satisfaction. Out of a possible score of 1000 points across 5 categories, the BlackBerry scored 737 pts, 27 pts behind the industry average placing it 4th on the list behind HTC with 781 pts, Samsung with 791 pts, and Apple, first on the list with 800 pts.
I’ll warn you up front, if you watch this, it will get stuck in your head and you will hum the BlackBerry Boys theme song for the rest of the day…
