Celebrity BlackBerry Sightings

A few RIMarkable readers have asked why we haven’t posted any recent pictures of celebrities with BlackBerrys lately. Well, that would be because we’ve created an entire site dedicated to celebrities with BlackBerrys, appropriately named Celebrity BlackBerry Sightings.

It still amazes me that some of the most popular posts here are RIMarkable a pictures of famous folks using their BlackBerrys. When I say popular, we are talking about hundreds of thousands of page views over the years.

Needless to say Celebrity BlackBerry Sightings is still going strong, so, if you would like to see pictures of the the famous and the infamous that use our beloved BlackBerry, head on over and have a look.

SAP To Release New Mobile Version Of Its Business Management Software For The iPhone Before The BlackBerry

Simon found an interesting article about how SAP is releasing the next mobile version of their business management software for the iPhone before they do so for the BlackBerry.

You can read the article over on Reuters, and it is true, SAP software for the iPhone will be available a few weeks before it will be for the BlackBerry and other mobile devices, like the Treo. Maybe I am just being short sighted, however, I still just don’t see the iPhone as we know it as a serious business platform.

I have to wonder if SAP is just catching some of the Buzz surrounding the iPhone by creating a portal optimized for the Safari Browser found on the iPhone and making a big announcement about it. If that was the plan, it is definitely working.

BlackBerry Quick Connect Now Working On The Motorola Q 9h

It looks like Quick Connect, an application that allows non-BlackBerry devices to connect to BlackBerry Enterprise Server, is now working on the Motorola Q 9h.

There was a time when I thought that Quick Connect would be a huge hit for RIM because it would allow people wanting to connect to their corporate BES implementations to do so without having to use a BlackBerry. Little did I know back then how much better BlackBerry devices actually function than most other smart phones / PDAs.

RIM To Announce Q3 Results December 20th

Research in Motion is will announce results of their third quarter fiscal 2008 at 5:00 P.M. EST on Thursday, December 20th. As usual, there will be a conference call and a live webcast which can be accessed by logging on at www.rim.com/investors/events/index.shtml or by dialing 416-640-1917.

I am sure that there will be a lot of talk about just how great the BlackBerry did in Q3, however, I wonder how much they will talk about the 17% slide in RIM’s stock over the past week. I guess, technically, this should be addressed in their Q4 call, however, inquiring minds want to know.

Use Your Wi-Fi Enabled BlackBerry On JetBlue Starting Next Week

JetBlue, the coolest discount airline that I’ve ever flown on, has partnered with Research in Motion and Yahoo to bring you in-flight access to email and instant messaging while in flight.

BetaBlue, which will make its inaugural flight next Tuesday from JFK to San Francisco, will allow passengers who bring their laptops to access lightweight versions of Yahoo email and instant messaging services, however, Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry users (8820 and 8320) and will be able to access their corporate (BES) and personal (BIS) email via their handhelds.

There is no way to request the first Wi-Fi enabled plane, however, there will be no charge to use the service if you happen to get lucky.
