BlackBerry Daylight Savings Time (DST) Patch

Based on the number of emails we have received asking for advice on how to “fix the time” on BlackBerry users devices, it would appear that many folks haven’t applied the DST 2007 Patch for BlackBerry Devices.

If you BlackBerry adjusted for DST yesterday, the old “Fall Back” date here is what you need to do:

  1. Point your devices BlackBerry Browser to mobile.blackberry.com
  2. Click on Important info: DST 2007
  3. Click Download
  4. Follow the instructions…

Applying the DST 2007 Patch for BlackBerry is pretty straight forward, however, it does take it 15 minutes or so to complete.

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Receives FCC Approval

My bad for completely missing this one last week, but, it looks like the FCC has officially approved the BlackBerry Pearl 8130.

According to PhoneScoop.com and the FCC documents they link to, the CDMA BlackBerry Pearl 8130 was approved on the 25th.

Does this change your opinion on when when it’s launch date will be announced?

Thanks for the tip Wakefield

Apple Is Getting Paid!

I was just reading an article over on The New York Times about the amount of money Apple makes in licensing fees from AT&T over the 2 year contract term for each iPhone activated. It is estimated that

Apple gets about $18 per month, or $432 over the life of an iPhone activation contract.

I know a lot of BlackBerry users complain about the additional BlackBerry services charges they pay. At least, however, you are paying for an actual service. Don’t forget all of your BlackBerry data travels through RIM’s data center.

That $18 per month, on the other hand, that you are paying on your iPhone I guess is so you can have that pretty Apple logo on it.

It must be nice to be Steve Jobs…
