Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8530

Chances are that you’ve heard about the BlackBerry Curve 8520 set to launch on T-Mobile August 5th.  You may have even known that a CDMA version, the BlackBerry Curve 8530, is headed to Verizon later this year.  What you may not have known, however,  is that the BlackBerry Curve 8530 will have Wi-Fi.

The picture is from CrackBerry.com but the leaked spec sheet is from BGR.

  • 320×240 resolution screen
  • 1xRTT, EV-DO
  • QWERTY keyboard
  • 2 megapixel camera
  • OS 5.0
  • Bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi b,g

This falls in line with rumors that the BlackBerry Tour will be the last CDMA BlackBerry not to sport Wi-Fi.

Do you there is any chance that in addition to the BlackBerry Curve 8530 coming out, that there would be another device at least as powerful as the Tour, but with Wi-Fi coming out?

Never realized that Wifi was so appealing to that many people? Verizon requires a data plan anyway with Blackberry so how much is WiFi actually being used? I have a bold and have never even tried using the WiFi feature just because the 3G feature has been sufficient.

Im confused..if there is no 3G and only wifi, then are we not required to pay for the monthly data plan? That would be nice..anyone know?
