Is The BlackBerry Bold Coming To Verizon And Sprint?

As many CDMA BlackBerry users know, Verizon, Sprint, and other CDMA wireless providers generally don’t get new BlackBerry devices for up to a year after they are released on GSM carriers. There are rumors on the street, however, that point to a CDMA version of the BlackBerry Bold coming out on Verizon and Sprint not a year after AT&T, but a couple months later.

That’s right boys and girls… Verizon and Sprint may get a CDMA based BlackBerry Bold by summer’s end. Infosync World is reporting that the BlackBerry Bold will hit Verizon and Sprint in September of this year. That is just 2 months or so passed the release date of the BlackBerry Bold on AT&T.

I wonder how good Infosync’s record is with these rumors. Didn’t BGR say that we shouldn’t expect the CDMA BB Bold until May of 09?

It would be great if this turns out to be true, but I won’t hold my breath. If it is true, then they are in essence killing off the CDMA Curve very quickly, not to mention releasing the Bold very close to the Thunder. I don’t know if VZW or RIM would want to do that.

Hey Rob, check your second paragraph. It says CDMA Pearl. Having just gone through a fiasco over wording for certain Curve posts, I hope you can change it.

@ Thought - Your comments make sense, but I hope it turns out the other way… I want a Bold on Verizon ASAP! :-) Either way I think I’ll keep hacking along with my old 8703 and see what late Summer brings.

So Bob,

I am curious… Are the rumors of the CDMA BlackBerry Bold and the BlackBerry Thunder keeping your from moving to the BlackBerry Curve, or, were you not thinking about moving to a Curve at all?

I was not planning on going to the curve at all for verizon because i found the curve to be too small for me…i was planning on buying a red 8830 but if the bold is definetly coming out in September I just might reconsider

Selling my VZW Curve to offset the cost of upgrading to the Bold as soon as it’s released.

My Verizon new every two is up in early October, and both my wife and I are interested in the Bold. I’ve got an 8703e now, and we’re definitely going to pass up the Curve if the Bold seems to be in sight.

Based on the history of VZW getting new phones, I am very skeptical on this rumor. Why would this timetable of 1 year later all of the suddenly change to a few months? If it does, I am not complaining, but just curious.

Is there any reason to think that this may be true this time, or is this just the beginning of another long year of launch date rumors and watching ATT walk around with another phone we VZW users can’t get?

I went to verizon the other day to get the curve and they told me to wait for the bold, that they were getting it towards the end of july. They don’t know the exact date because they only find out 5 days before in the store, but it was definitely coming then
