BlackBerry Tour 9630The much anticipated BlackBerry Tour 9630, formerly known as the BlackBerry Niagara, is rumored to hit Verizon shelves sometime in mid-July. We aren’t sure which exact day it will launch… There are credible rumors stating that the Tour’s release date will be the 13th, the 15th, or the 17th so we will just cover our bases and say that the BlackBerry Tour will launch the week of the July 13th.

No touch screen. This is the next Curve.

Thank god it doesn’t have a touch screen. Haven’t any of you learned that BB with touch screens just plain suck.

This is going to be the best BB Verizon has put out.

Think it’s un-fair to judge RIM and BB based on their first touch screen device. There are several things which make the Storm less than what it should be. BB’s with touch screens most likely will be the future.

Also not so sure it’s wise to label a still unreleased device as “best”. Even with the Bold being out now for a while some will still vote the Curve as one of RIM’s “best”.

It’s perfectly fair to judge RIM by the Storm.

They took people’s money for a piece of crap.

They didn’t take the time to get it right, but sold it anyway.

That hurts their credibility as a company.

Judging by *actual results* makes far more sense than judging by your apologist assumptions about the future.

The Storm was crap and speaks for itself, and says speaks volumes about RIM as a company.

@The Shadow
I understand that the Storm wasn’t perfect at release. Most manufacturers don’t get it perfect at the start anyways, choosing to update and patch as they go. I don’t think the Storm has fully hurt the credibility of the company anymore more than say Microsoft and Vista. As a matter of fact, I think it’s probably helped the company. The Storm brought attention to RIM, making it viable as a consumer phone manufacturer and that it’s not just for business suits.

Granted there’s been headaches, I’m not a fan of my Storm. I’m upset that Verizon is taking it’s sweet old time to approve an OS update. I don’t want to update my OS because I shouldn’t have to. People tell me that things will be better when a new OS is on there, until this happens, I’ll continuously be disappointed with my Storm but I won’t consider it the failure bastard of a phone that you seem to think it is.

Which is why RIM should allow NO service provider the ability to mess with (aka verizon aka cripple, remove functions and features) nor hold back the updates to RIM’s devices. The service providers should only be allowed to provide cellular service and RIM being responsible for upgrading and maintaining their BB hardware.
