5 More Must Have Free BlackBerry Downloads

The most linked to post here on RIMarkable is 5 must have free BlackBerry downloads. We’ve received quite a few emails, to say the least, with other free BlackBerry downloads that should have made the list, so, due to popular demand, we have decided to create another list.

Here is our list of 5 More Must Have Free BlackBerry Downloads.

  1. Berry411 — I’m not quite sure how I managed to leave Berry411, arguably the best free BlackBerry download of all time, off the list the first time. We won’t, however, make that mistake a second time. You can read a description of what Berry411 is here. Better yet, just go download the latest version of Berry411 here
  2.

  3. SudokuSudoku is the most addictive game, free or otherwise, that I have yet to play on my BlackBerry. Even though the free Magmic Games version that you can download from mobile.BlackBerry.com OTA is limited, you cannot download new puzzles, it will provide hundreds of hours of fun. There are 50 puzzles on each level and if you like logic, puzzle type games, you can log some serious time with Sudoku.
  4.

  5. Ramble IM — I knew that AIM was one of the most popular IM applications out there when I wrote the first must have free BlackBerry download list. What I didn’t realize was just how BlackBerry users use AIM. Since there isn’t a native AIM client out for the BlackBerry just yet, Ramble Instant Messenger is probably the next best thing.
  6.

  7. Opera Mini — Web browsing on your BlackBerry is one of the few things that even die-hard BlackBerry users would say is better on Windows Mobile, Palm, and Symbian, however, it is not due to lack of functionality on the BlackBerry. It is due to lack of functionality in the BlackBerry browser. Fortunately, Opera Mini is available for BlackBerry and it is, of course a free download. You can download Opera Mini OTA on your devices here.
  8.

  9. What is your favorite Free BlackBerry Download? — There are so many good free BlackBerry downloads out there that we thought we should ask you what your favorite one is. Leave us a comment and let us know what piece of free BlackBerry software you can’t live without…

I’d like to recommend checking out the Geopepper app for Blackberry 8800 phones (currently on AT&T, support for more models in the works).
It’a location-based mobile social networking app mainly targeted at biz professionals, ie the Blackberry crowd.
What does it do? Gives you AUTOMATIC alerts over SMS when someone from your social network (LinkedIn, etc., imported into one social network on geopepper.com) is also in the area, e.g., while attending a conference or waiting at the airport.
e.g., You know John, John works with Sally; When you’re at EWR, you and Sally can *choose* to get alerted about a potential meeting opportunity.

Best, it works on ANY phone via SMS, but works best on phones like the BB 8800 which support an autonomous GPS client.

Please sign-up at geopepper.com and download the client on to your phone from http://www.geopepper.com/mobile on your blackberry browser.

This is my list of must have downloads for verizon 8830

Google mobile updater, Google just released this app that I think should be number 1 on the list (because it automatically downloads half the others on the others lists) and it keeps them updated. I don’t know what blackberries it works on but it works wonderfully on my 8830.
It downloads
-Google search
-Google maps
-Gmail
-News
-Google reader
-Google docs
-Picasa
-Google sync (syncs your Google calendar with your bb calendar)
And if you don’t want all these you can choose what ones you want downloaded

Google Talk- google updater does not install or update this one.And Google also just came out with a new version of Google talk so if you’re using the old version you are missing out.

I also use Yahoo! go it is handy for backing up your contacts. It has saved me many, many times.

Facebook has a really cool app too

Opera Mini is a must have also

Berry 411 is a great app as well

I have the Verizon 8830 and as many were complaining about the GPS feature is not free but I paid the extra $10 a month to have the GPS enabled and I think it was well worth it. The VZ navigator works very well and is very accurate.

Chris,

Check out eqo.com and gizmo5.com. These are mobile voip clients that bundle a free (and good) multi-service IM client. I believe they both support MSN. You do need to sign up for an account with them, but there are no hidden fees.

I can’t believe no one has mentioned Jivetalk… sure its’ not free… but $20 for an amazingly good AIM app is totally worth it.

i think there’s a 30 day free trial. go, try it. love it. and use it.

Also, I use to have DiamondRush game on my Pearl but can’t get a version to work on the Curve. I miss it. It was was my Favorite game. Played it all the time.

JiveTalk is personally the best third party AIM software out there. it has every last feature you would find on the traditional PC AIM, yet it is very simple and straight foward. After 1 free month you simpily pay$20 and thats it, igive it 5 stars. Google maps is a must have…Hands down.

Jive talk is worth the 20 dollars, but the only issue with that is every time you bb breaks and you need a new one you have to pay an additional 20 dollars to get jivetalk…the way jive talk works, is it is set to your pin…every time you get a new phone you recieve a new pin number….I rather have a free aim than pay for jive over and over…if anyone has a free aim option please email me at ballah44@aim.com

This aim issue is bull****. How hard can it be for rim or AOL to make available to everyone? Ramble is a piece of crap and doesn’t work most of the time.
