Over on EngadgetMobile, BoyGenius has posted more pics of the BlackBerry Pearl. I must say that this is, in my opinion, the sleekest looking BlackBerry yet.

My contract with Sprint is up on the 28th of this month. Will all phone companies have this new BlackBerry when it comes out or only certain ones? I want to make sure that I don’t sign a contract with someone that won’t let me use this phone.

One more question. Do you think that if T-Mobile gets this phone, they will have a pay as you go plan like they do with Sidekick? That is what I am going to get if I don’t get the Pearl.

Rich: as of now only T-Mobile and Cingular will be getting this phone anytime soon…because this phone is being released only in the GSM version. Sprint and Verizon will not see this phone for a while, because their networks use a different technology (CDMA).

As for whether T-Mo will offer this phone on a prepaid plan: I don’t know much about T-Mo or its plans, and so I can’t help you with that one. I will say that most carriers release phones like this only on the standard postpaid plans w/contract, but again, I certainly don’t know enough about T-Mo to reliably predict this.

When will this wonderful upgrade become available? I have my tent already set up and waiting.

Rich,

I just wrote a post about a pre-paid BlackBerry plan a couple of weeks ago.

I don’t think we will see anytime soon. You never know though. If enough consumers ask for it maybe we will.
