As has been said many times before, BlackBerry 7 is far from a complete overhaul to the BlackBerry OS that has been around for years. It is more or less a refining of BlackBerry 6 that runs on much, much faster hardware. This isn’t to say, however, that there aren’t slick little improvements in BlackBerry 7. The web browser is much faster and actually usable. Still slower than Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 7 in most cases, but, it is in the ball park and doesn’t seem slow in comparison. The screen resolution (Liquid Graphics) seems to be pretty good. Most third party apps don’t take advantage of it, but, the ones that do look great. The Bold 9900 that I’ve played with still takes forever to boot up, but, the 1.2 GHz processor is quite noticeable once it starts up.
Over on the Inside BlackBerry for Business blog, Research in Motion has listed the “Top Five Features of BlackBerry 7 for Business Users“. Those features are:
- Documents To Go® Premium
- BlackBerry Messenger 6
- BlackBerry® Balance™ Technology
- Liquid Graphics™ Technology
- Voice-Enabled Universal Search
Seriously RIM? You’ve have got to be able to come out with a better list than this…
