If you are a BlackBerry user and have the need to take screenshots from time-to-time, I would highly recommend using Screenshot. I started using a free app called Capture It which is a great app, but Screenshot takes it to a whole new level and for only 99¢ in AppWorld. There is a free version of Screenshot in the RIMarkable Store, but I have not had a chance to try it out. After writing this the paid version on the RIMarkable store increased from 99¢ to $2.99 so buying on AppWorld makes sense for now.

Why Screenshot?

The most critical feature Screenshot has is the ability to assign one of your convenience keys to initiate the screenshot of your phone. This means you can get screenshots of menu dialogs and screenshots of dialogs that block the ability to access the menu as you can see below. I often want to screenshot a popup dialog that an application may present, with Capture It, this was not possible. With Screenshot, I just press my left-side convenience button and there it is.

The product supports a host of configuration options, like image file type, save to location, time delay, file naming convention and more. There is likely a situation and need for each option, but at the end of the day, all I wanted was vibrate when taking a screenshot and ‘use left-side convenience key’.

If you are in the market for a good screenshot application, I highly recommend using either the paid or free versions of Screenshot. The only suggestion I have is to make sure you have a decent sized SD Card in your device vs. saving images to internal phone storage. You will need it, because this is just so easy with Screenshot.
