It looks like the BlackBerry PlayBook is on sale for $249 at Staples today 9/25 thru 10/1. The 16 GB model regularly runs $449, but, you can pick one up this week at 45% off the regular price after a $100 in-store instant-rebate, and a $100 mail-in rebate.
I have yet to recommend the BlackBerry PlayBook because there simply weren’t (aren’t) enough quality applications to justify a $450 to $500 price point. The hardware in the PlayBook, however, is quite good featuring 1 GHz dual core processor in a 7-inch device, and, knowing that Android App support is coming in the next month or so, the PlayBook at $249, is actually a pretty good deal.
I don’t know if having to pay $349 for a PlayBook in the store and waiting a month and a half or so to get the $100 mail-in rebate will make the PlayBook fly off store shelves. I can say, however, that if you submit your rebate form, around the time you get your $100 check when the Android App Player for BlackBerry PlayBook has been been released, $249 will definitely be worth it.
