Research in Motion recently sent out media invitations for the BlackBerry 10 Launch event being held in New York City on January 30th.

To say that BlackBerry 10 is RIM’s last, best chance to remain an independent player in the the today’s smartphone industry currently dominated by Android and the iPhone is a bit of an understatement.

There is, however, no shortage of rumors which  indicate that BlackBerry 10 is absolutely a rock solid mobile operating system and several use adjectives like “ground breaking” when describing its features…

No one expects BlackBerry 10 to challenge Android or the iPhone for one of the top two spots as far as market share is concerned, but, honestly, it doesn’t have to.

BlackBerry 10 legitimately competing for third place with Windows Phone and RIM stemming it’s current bleed of market share would have to be seen as a huge success.

Its good to see excitement associated with the BlackBerry brand and Research in Motion again, and, I personally can’t wait to get my hands on device once they come out.
