I currently have the BB Pearl on T-mobile, and may switch to the Curve, eventually. We’ll see if Tmo gets the wi-fi enabled one too.

I chose the 8830 from Verizon. It’s the best Verizon has to offer, so it’s what I went with… for now. Downsides are that it has several software issues, including going into conference mode when sending/receiving a call at the same time, requiring a soft reset to be able to send calls again. Also, there’s no camera as it’s more of a “business device” (as if business people don’t want a camera). I’ll stick it out with Verizon for now, but I’m reeeally tempted to switch to AT&T for the Curve, and any other of the 10 phones they’ll come out with before Verizon does. A second generation Curve or iPhone will probably be enough for me to divorce Verizon after 6 years.

I knew nothing about Blackberrys when I bought my Pearl. I had originally purchased the HTC Wing but angrily returned it a few days later (it was horrible). I desperately needed a “practical” smartphone to fill the void so I bypassed the Sidekick and bought the Pearl. It was only later that I realized how perfect it was for me.

At first I was tempted to pick up the Curve since my boyfriend has one. But now I realize that the Pearl is more my style. Plus, keeping it leaves me free to wait around for the alleged 9100 that’s due out some time next year.

Unless the rumors are true and T-Mobile is coming out with a BLACK Curve. Then all bets are off.

I went with the Pearl 1 year ago and will continue to do so. It addresses all of my needs; form factor, keyboard (suretype vs. Full), email, browser, and ease of use (OS). While I use T-Mobile (ugh), it’s stood up to the task of extremely heavy usage and decent reception. Not sure if Pearl 2 is a warranted excuse to upgrade, but I’ve gone a year without buying another. I may spoil myself and get the Pearl 2 when available.

PS – I read and typed this from my Pearl! Just love it.

I use the 8830 on VZW for my business line , and a Curve on at&t for my personal line. Both are great devices! however, if I had to choose one I’d probably roll with the 8830. It’s just a little more solid to me then the Curve, and the camera is just a non event. Give me a Curve with 3G and a 3 mega pix shooter and I’d change my mind in a heart beat, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon!

I chose the Pearl months ago. I had been avoiding convergence devices for some time because there was always some drawback that made them not quite appealing to me: form factor, speed, battery life, available applications. The Pearl was the first one in a compact form that could take the place of my phone, PDA and mp3 player, had good battery life, was the candy bar form factor I liked, and excellent battery life.

If I did not have one right now, I would go for the Pearl 2. While there are some major improvements, they are not compelling enough for me to get a new phone so soon after my last one. Fortunately, the OS improvements will be available in October, so I don’t feel cheated. I’ve had it for 6 months now, and still use it for all of the tasks I had originally envisioned. The only thing I miss is not having a full qwerty keyboard, but that is offset by the fact that it then becomes a device with a form factor I don’t like, especially as a phone.

I’ve had the 7100, now using the 8100 ever since it’s release with T-Mobile. I love my pearl, However It really upsets me that tmobile isn’t the 1st to get the berries after the pearl’s release. I want the Curve but I’m not willing to switch carriers to get it. I would love to have the Curve in my pearl’s place because the curve is still small and has a full keyboard and wifi. I’m waiting on it’s release to T-Mobile, the greatest carrier there ever was…lol…then I’ll be complete. T-Mobile should get all New BlackBerries first!
