It would be great if I could keep in touch with my BB clients via a desktop application during the day. I also think if my BB had to be plugged into my pc running the BB desktop, that would certainly cover the security issues mentioned above as a impediment to this ESSENTIAL application!

I get absolutely no wireless coverage at work, so if I want to chat on my BB Messenger, I actually have to leave the building. I haven't tried it but it's called Impatica viaDock. Seems a little pricey @ $39.99 but supposedly you can do anything from the PC keyboard you can do from the BB.

Seems a developer has come up with the software. BB msgr is a great way to send short msgs between BB users in and out of the office, because you would no longer be clogging up your "sent items" folder.
I am not sure what it would require of RIM to develop a program for us who would use it, but I for one would find it very convenient...

I think it’s a great idea…especially for the times you’re working from your desktop and then having to stop and check your device; it’s really a hassle sometimes. I don't mind picking my phone up to read a message.. but I think using my computer's keyboard to reply would be quite handy if I were sitting at a machine.

Even if there were no window that popped up on the screen.. if you had your blackberry plugged in via USB charging, I think It’d be amazing to utilize your computer’s keyboard to send messages on the blackberry itself.

Yes, I’m aware blackberry has it’s own keyboard… but can anyone honestly type faster on that then a full sized keyboard? You must have the device hooked up at all times to the PC you're at. The BlackBerry desktop software then presents the opportunity to take your text input and provides it to the BlackBerry device for submission. The BlackBerry would be referenced to read the actual text, but perhaps it's not a long shot or a security issue to have it send the message to the desktop software, either.
In essence, I think integrating a chat client in the desktop software that uses your phone is not out of the question. It's just not in enough demand.Beyond this, all I can think of as an alternative to thumbing away on my phone is to use a bluetooth keyboard. I just don't want to have to keep typing and picking up the device. Having two keyboards is fine for me as a workaround.

Actually, I think it would be a great idea:<br
