It seems like more and more of my friends are getting hooked on Foursquare, so,  I’ve decided to give it the honest try.  I’ve got to be honest though.  I am either too anti-social or to worried about being tracked from space, because letting the world know where I am via Twitter and the internet does not sound appealing to me at all.

For those of you that don’t know, Foursquare is a location based social networking game that allows you to “check in” when you visit various establishments and is available as mobile application on the iPhone, Android, Web OS, and, of course, the BlackBerry.

Foursquare is a cross between a friend-finder, a social city-guide and a game that rewards you for doing interesting things.  We aim to build things to not only help you keep up with the places your friends go, but that encourage you to discover new places and challenge you to explore your neighborhood in new ways.

To me, that kind of sounds cool for about 8 seconds, but then I think, “Do I really want Earth to know where I am right now?”  Tell me if I am wrong, but, FourSquare basically journals where you go and even how often you go  there.  That kind of seems like wearing an electronic location ankle bracelet by choice.

Foursquare is insanely popular, so, I must be missing something.  Feel free to tell me what that is…
