VoIP coming to a BlackBerry Near You

RIM and Nortel announce plans to deliver VoIP over local wireless area networks. Initially, they will provide integration between BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) and Nortel’s Multimedia Communications Server (MCS) which will allow you to use your Blackberry around your office just like the office phone on your desk. One would have to imagine that eventually they would extend functionality to allow VoIP over public Wi-Fi networks.
