Here is a pretty in depth hands-on video of the BlackBerry PlayBook in action at Lotusphere 2011 that shows just how awesome thumb typing on the BlackBerry PlayBook may be.  This video is long so, skip to the 10:56 mark if you just want to see what thumb typing might be like.

That’s the first bit of video wherein virtual typing looks like it might work better than being a p.i.t.a. tap-tap-tapping. The whole 10-inch vs. 7-inch question will be interesting to watch. Its the type of issue where users, in short order, will determine. I didn’t expect to gravitate toward the smaller form. I went from a kindle1 to a kindle2 to kindleDX (which is the larger, IPad sized version) and I like the DX, but that’s because I use it solely to read and 95% of the time at home. I don’t carry it with me at all. I expect I will carry a tablet with me quite a bit and will use it more widely than as an ereader, so form factor will be critical. I like the looks of the Xoom but think I will give the Playbook a first look, both for its bridging with my Torch and for the smaller, lighter size.

I am not surprised by this introduction because blackberry is an amazing brand that has the habit of producing amazing feature phones. I hope to buy this soon. Thanks.
