Video: RIM Showcases BlackBerry Super App, UrbanSpoon, In Latest App World Commercial

January 18, 2011 by Robb Dunewood 5 Comments

Research in Motion has released another App World commercial, this time showcasing BlackBerry Super App UrbanSpoon.  This is only the second or third BlackBerry App World commercial, but, something tells me that a lot more of these will be coming out soon.

the iphone had that about 3 years ago. Very concerning as a rim shareholder that they think that’s something to make a video about.

I don’t know that UrbanSpoon has been out on the BlackBerry for 3 years, but, it has for at least two. I think this commercial is just showcasing a pretty popular app that has been updated is as what RIM considers to be a Super App.

If RIM really wants to show me a super app, bring a popular game like Angry Birds to into BlackBerry App World.

David—and the Sling app for Blackberry was out before the Sling app for the iPhone and the Android phone—Big deal! Who cares whether or not Urbanspoon was available for the iPhone ahead of Blackberry–to each their own phone preference. Note: The Sling app was available for Windows Mobile and Symbian first–again does it really matter.

If RIM thinks commercials like this are going to draw in new users or keep existing ones, then they are truly doomed. The only people this will appeal to are BB fanbois who need this to somehow try and justify their love of an out dated platform.
