Remember back in November when Verizon announced that it would open up their network to outside mobiles handsets, devices, and applications? Well, according to a press release put out by Verizon a couple of days ago, the nation’s second largest wireless carrier will release Verizon 1.0 of the technical specs for devices that will work on their “Any Device, Any App” network-only service option.

Verizon will release Version 1.0 of the Any Device, Any App specifications at the upcoming Open Development Device Conference scheduled for March 19th in NYC.

The conference will focus on how traditional device and consumer electronics companies and entrepreneurs new to the wireless ecosystem can bring new wireless devices to the marketplace under Verizon Wireless’ Open Development initiative.

Verizon’s Open development initiative expects to offer the network-only service option later this year, however, if you want to get details sooner, you can either attend the Open Development Device Conference in March, or, listen to the webcast that you can find details for at www.verizonwireless.com/opendevelopment.
