Verizon BlackBerry Thunder Storm Gets Boxed

August 28, 2008 by Robb Dunewood 5 Comments

So, it looks like the BlackBerry Storm, you know, the touchscreen BlackBerry from Verizon that we thought would be called the BlackBerry Thunder, is really trying to make that October 13th launch that we heard about a few weeks ago.

Engadget mobile has gotten there hands on a Verizon BlackBerry Storm Box template. We can only gather that if boxes for a new BlackBerry are starting to appear on the internet, live pictures of the devices they contain should be soon to follow.

Robb, Do you have any predictions on how popular this will be? I mean in all reality, everyone I’ve talked to hasn’t seem too excited about a touch screen BB. The only person with some interest was my buddy that actually works for Verizon.

So if this comes out on verizon does that mean that they won’t release the bold on Verizon for a while? Even if it comes out CDMA?

I hate Verizon. And to be honest, a touch screen bb doesn’t really appeal to me all that much. I like just the normal physical keyboard.

Yeah, this is really funny actually as noone I’ve talked to who actually uses a Blackberry seems enthused about this device. It just screams ME TOO at the iPhone, whereas the Bold is actually a new and highly-upgraded platform over existing 7000 & 8000-series devices.

@Rando: This is supposed to have the same processor (624mhz) as the Bold. Bold is running 4.6 OS where this is supposed to be running 4.7 OS. If the Bold is a new and highly-upgraded platform (4.6), how would this not be?
