Verizon BlackBerry Storm To Be Released Next Friday, Nov. 21st

November 13, 2008 by Robb Dunewood 12 Comments

The BlackBerry Storm is coming!  The BlackBerry Storm is coming! Well, we already knew that it was coming, but, now we have a definitive date of when it will get hear.

Friday, November 21st is the date.  You can get your hands on the BlackBerry Storm in one short week from tomorrow and it will be a bit less expensive (up front) than most people thought.

The BlackBerry Storm is going to run you $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate so your out of pocket price will be 250 bucks, $50 more than the iPhone, however, I honestly don’t think that will matter much.  At least not at first.  The BlackBerry Storm will sell like mad.  Possibly better than any BlackBerry that has come before it and I personally cannot wait to get one.

I was really excited for this phone, esp since its a cool blackberry on verizon of all things.

Then I talked to a buddy of mine works for Best Buy, They’ve had a demo for over a week now, and unfortunately he was not impressed. He didn’t say it was a bad phone, just that it was OK (main issues being slowdowns at times and the clicky screen growing tiresome), and that he would be sticking with his curve.

Now I’m a little nervous for a let down.

The moment has finally arrived! Once a sceptic about a touch screen BB, I now wait with anticipation of buying one the day it’s released. It’s time to retire my Pearl.

I haven’t eagerly anticipated anything like this since the week before Christmas that year I got my official Red Ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and that thing that tells time.

Maybe if I go to sleep now, Nov. 21st will come quicker…

Funny, I used to think going to sleep would do the truck too. The only other thing I anticipated like this in the world of electronics, computers and such was Windows 95. It still ranks tops in my book.

The gimmicky pricing (rebate) from RIM/Verizon is foolish. If RIM wants to gain traction against Apple then at a minimum price they should products identically. In case anyone missed it, the failure rate on BBs vs iPhones isn’t even close.
This is their chance to gain back market share… I hope they don’t blow it.

    @ Kells

Yeah, lost the ‘I’. Love the Pearl.

My favorite movie of all time.

    Must be French…

“A Chirstmas Story” is a classic. It’s got to be one of the best holiday movies of all time.

As for the BlackBerry Storm it is definitely number two behind the iPhone as far as the hype machine is concerned when it comes to a mobile phone. Let’s hope that, like the iPhone, it lives up to it.

I’m annoyed. I really like the service I have with T-Mobile but I’m sick of getting the shaft on all the good phones! The G1 is cool and everything but they NEVER get the good phones! I can’t switch make’s now that I’ve got all the quirks figured out….I really want the Storm. *shaking her fist in anger*

Someone important seems to be unable to get the Storm, or any other smart phone. Seems to me laws need to change to allow our CEO of CEO’s the POTUS use email, the internet and the smartphones (blackberry, iPhone) like any other CEO. Think it’s way past due that the Oval Office desk gets a computer and the Pres. gets to use his choice of smartphone.

Lose the BlackBerry? Yes He Can, Maybe
