Spoke to my local rep today and said that he “heard” the 15th of Nov. So yes, we are all over the board.
And just for the record…all the previous comments about comparing ATT and VZ and such…it’s all personal preference and call service. In my area AT&T SUCKS and I would never use them. But a buddy of mine, AT&T rocks in his area. So most of it depend on your area. VZ happens to work best in my town so I go w/ them. It is all about having a phone service that is clear, consistent and reliable.
If it shows I don’t know the difference between CDMA and GSM service, then so be it, I represent the “average” consumer. I believe the most people don’t care about the technical differences.
That said…bring out the DAMN phone already!!

Would someone on this post comment on the Pearl vs. Curve? I’m a current VZ subscriber, don’t really want to change to ATT, but thought the Curve is a better phone than the Pearl. What is your opinion?

I’ve spoke with several reps (store and phone) and they are all confirming Nov 8th release for the 8130.

Wow everyone has no clue when the release date is and verizon is obviously not telling their reps when! They are all across the board from tomorrow to the end of the month. Being a marketer it is clearly a marketing scheme to boost the hype of the phone by not giving out a launch date and I really don’t think they will give one. They will have it for sale on the web and then a week later in the stores. Personally, I think their marketing plan of keeping quiet and leaking possible dates is some what genius. It gets everyone talking about it and the word spreads like wild fire even to people who don’t buy new phones all the time. I know I have talked with friends who aren’t even interested about it because thats what consumers do when they are excited for a product to be released.

Now, as a consumer I want to know the fricken date already. I’m frustrated that no one has a confirmed date, not even my close friends who are high up in the verizon world. If they don’t know, I really have a tough time believing that anyone knows anything other than what verizon has been leaking out purposely. I really hope tomorrow is the day it goes onsale online. I have been waiting for this thing since June when I first heard that it might come out on CDMA.

I asked a rep in a Verizon store in Houston yesterday about the launch date…he said November 18th or 20th.
