Ulimited IM And Email For Telus BlackBerry Pearl Users

It looks like Telus Mobility has fallen in line with just about everyone else when it comes to unlimited BlackBerry Pearl email and IM plans. For $15 per month, our Telus BlackBerry Pearl using neighbors to the north can get unlimited BIS email and BlackBerry Messenger.

If only these BIS only plans offered web. Now, that would be something.

Rumour has it, Telus is offering unlimited data on this package as well. It just isn’t up on the website.

This is awesome and all thanks to Apple and the impending release of the iPhone on Rogers..

Thanks Steve!

Everything is included in this plan except for tethering to your computer. Pretty good deal. I have it and use GPS, internet, email, MSN, facebook, blackberry messenger, opera mini, google maps, everything works without extra charges.

Exactly. I also have a Blackberry Pearl 8130 with Telus (3-years contract) and I have unlimited surfice (BIS), unlimited e-mail, unlimited IM (Google Talk/Yahoo Messenger/Blackberry Messenger), AND unlimited web surfing (*not* BIS). They didn’t mention anything about unlimited web surfing when I signed the agreement but they did tell me I would have unlimited MSN IM (which isn’t true, can’t be damned to find a way to have the msn client installed on my BB).

Paid the phone 129.00$ but I was given a coupon allowing me to get a refund from Telus if the phone was on sale for a lower price in the 4 weeks following my purchase. I don’t think they had planned at that point to lower the price but they did (lower it to 0,00$* with a 3 years contract on a 45$+ voice/data plan), so I’m currently waiting for a 129$ check from Telus, I’ll post back when I get it.

Great phone by the way.

I’ve got the telus $15 plan which ROCKS by the way.

What I can’t figure out is how/where to access MSN messenger on there without having to use the cruddy mobile version through the browser.

What I’m lookin’ for is something like the BB Messenger, GoogleTalk, or Yahoo messenger programs I have on my pearl. Very elegant.

Has anybody been able to figure this out?

Hi,

Can you please confirm that the $15 plan with Telus also includes Google Talk? I just got off the phone with their rep and I was told it only applies to BB messenger, not to Google Talk. they did confirm that $15 is unlimited email as long as it’s through BIS, and that web surfing is also free. However, a piece of advise… If you have recently switched from another device to BB and you had the $15 plan on your previous device, make sure you call them as during the switch of your handset, the plan does not automatically switch as well. It’s a no brainer for them to do it, but they won’t do it unless you call them.

So, again, does anyone know if the free IM includes Google Talk? Not according to Telus…

What I was going to say in my previous post about switching… The plan does not switch automatically if you have switched from a non-BB device to a BB device… The rep told me this over the phone, b/c in their computers, the $15 plan is only linked to HTC and similar devices, not BB (at least not the 8830). But it is applicable to all devices.

Does the unlimited IM include free windows msn? I’m confused, I’m scared to use it because I don’t want this massive bill at the end of the month…For $15 we get unlimited Email, IM, and web browsing? even if it doesn’t say web browsing on the telusmobility site?..they told me I get it, but I don’t see it listed on my features?

Hi Leslie,

Yes it should. I’ve been using Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger for free several months now (albeit lightly) and I haven’t noticed any charges. Same should be the case for MSN, especially as that is actually even listed in the promotional offer.
