UberTwitter Acquired By PostUp — Company Renamed To UberMedia

January 25, 2011 by Robb Dunewood Leave a Comment

We just heard that UberTwitter, arguably the most popular third party Twitter client for the BlackBerry, has been acquired by PostUp and that the company has been renamed to UberMedia.

Chief executive Bill Gross mentions that the company is working to become the best “Twitter partner” for the ecosystem with the recent acquisition, but after buying another Twitter company Echofon earlier this month, it may be gobbling up applications in the attempt to offer a  robust and attractive communication package, which may be in direct competition to Twitter.

With the addtition of UberTwitter, along with Twidroyd and Echofon, UberMedia now Twitter solutions for the BlackBerry, Android, an the iPhone.  I wouldn’t be shocked if you see a Windows Phone 7, or, maybe a webOS acquisition taking place in the not too distant future.
