I’ve just installed Twitter for BlackBerry v1.0.0.37 myself and haven’t had but a few minutes to play with it, however, it does seem to be a bit faster and it looks like the @mentions screen is now cached.

You are running a very old OS on your Storm. I doubt that Twitter will run on version 4.6.
