TweetCaster By Handmark: A New Twitter Client For The BlackBerry

TweetCaster

Handmark released a new BlackBerry Twitter client today.  It’s called TweetCaster and it has some pretty cool features:

  • Ability to toggle between multiple accounts
  • URL shortening
  • Picture sharing
  • One-step @reply and retweet capabilities
  • GPS locator to find Twitter friends near you
  • Real-time trending topics list

I haven’t installed TweetCaster yet, however, I am about to and will create a new post telling you what I think once I’ve had the chance to play with it.

TweetCaster is a free BlackBerry application, though, it will cost you a tweet to gain access to the download.  This is a brilliant way, in my opinion, to drum up buzz about an application that you plan to offer for free.

Don’t even waste your time – it’s straight awful. It has a horrible interface and no background-refreshing! Hell freakin TWITTERBERRY has that! Handmark should be ashamed of themselves!

Ben’s review doesn’t inspire confidence, and I’m not about to put my twitter username and password into an unprotected/insecure web page.

Yeah, it is pretty bad. The multiple account support drew me in. Back to UberTwitter

They absolutely need to give you a better way to send the Tweet out without having to enter your password. Once I realized that is what you had to do, I used a slag account that I don’t care if it gets compromised to get to the download link.

I should qualify my last statement. It is pretty bad on a Storm. Actually works ok on the Curve and the Tour. Kind of basic but gets the job done and the multiple account support is nice.

Still going back to UberTwitter though.

It’s okay.. but I wish they would come up w/key short cuts.. so you don’t have to scroll all the way back up to view the toolbar and it doesn’t seem to update by itself. It also would be nice to have options like Ubertwitter ie. fonts etc.
