Verizon BlackBerry Curve 9330 in Fuchsia

The Verizon BlackBerry Curve 9330, a.k.a, the BlackBerry Curve 3G, is now available online in Fuchsia.  The device only costs $29.99 on a 2-year contract after a $100 online discount.  That’s not a bad deal for a brand new BlackBerry…  Not a bad deal at all…

Verizon BlackBerry Curve 3G

In a press release today, Research in Motion and Verizon Wireless have officially announced the BlackBerry Curve 3G.  The device will be available in business sales channels beginning Sept. 16 and in Stores in the coming weeks.  The BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 will set you back $29.99 on a two year plan after a $100 mail-in rebate.

Unless you just have to have a new BlackBerry immediately, I’d suggest that you hold off for few weeks after the Curve 3G lands in Verizon stores.  Something tells me that you will find this device online at places like Amazon for under $30 bucks without a mail-in rebate as soon as they start to carry it.

Leaked Verizon Rebate Form

Although there is no official launch date of the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 on Verizon it looks like the device may be available before the end of next month.  CB posted a Verizon rebate form on the web that shows rebates for both a charcoalgrey and a fuchsia BlackBerry Curve 3G which expires on October 31st.

Verizon BlackBerry Storm2 and Curve 8530 End Of Life Dates

An internal document detailing upcoming end of life dates for various Verizon mobile devices has leaked its way onto the web.  Of particular interest to RIMarkable readers might be the EOL of the BlackBerry Curve 9530 on September 16th, followed by the EOL of the BlackBerry Storm2 9550 on October 10th.  This gives Verizon subscribers looking to upgrade their current BlackBerry device a good indication of when the BlackBerry Curve 9330 and the rumored BlackBerry Storm3 might become available…

Leaked Verizon Roadmap

A BGR Source has leaked Verizon roadmap plans for the remainder of 2010, 2011, and even a bit of 2012.  There is a lot of focus on LTE and Android, however, news about Research in Motion and upcoming BlackBerry devices was not present on the roadmap at all.

It is clear that Verizon is putting its money on Android, however, it will be interesting to see if big red, who once accounted for 40% of all of Research in Motion’s revenue, will continue to push BlackBerry devices, or, relegate it’s former flagship smartphone line to “devices they still sell” status.

Verizon Wireless

The rumor of the day appears to the one coming from BBLeaks stating that Verizon is going to End of Life both the BlackBerry Storm2 9550 and the BlackBerry Curve 8530 to make way for new devices that will run BlackBerry 6.  The big question for me, however, is will the BlackBerry Storm2 support BlackBerry 6? We’ve already heard that Verizon has stopped testing BlackBerry 6 on the Storm2 due memory issues.

We know are pretty sure that BB6 won’t run on the 8530 so it being EOLed kind of is expected even though it is less than a year old.  Lets just hope that this isn’t the case on the BlackBerry Storm2.

BlackBerry Storm2

GizmoFusion is reporting that a “reliable informant” has let them know that Verizon has stopped testing the new BlackBerry 6 operating system on the BlackBerry Storm2 9550 and probably won’t resume until either the BlackBerry Storm2 Reboot or the Storm3 have been revealed.

Let’s hope that this is more of a delay rather than an indication that the Storm2′s 256 Mb of RAM just isn’t enough to run BlackBerry 6.

BlackBerry 6 may not come to CDMA networks until 2011

Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu said in a research note yesterday that BlackBerry 6, the next version of Research in Motion’s BlackBerry operating system, may not come out on CDMA networks like Sprint and Verizon until 2011.

Almost 80% of all wireless networks use GSM technology, so, it makes sense that RIM would target the biggest audience for the release their newest OS.  We believe that the BlackBerry 9800 (BlackBerry Slider) will be the first device to run BlackBerry 6 and that it will come out on AT&T in the August / September timeframe.  The problem for RIM, however, is that most BlackBerry devices are purchased here in the United States where the majority of BlackBerry users are CDMA BlackBerry users.
