BlackBerry Twitter Client

Official Twitter for BlackBerry Client

Infamous BlackBerry tipster, Salomondrin, says that the Official Twitter for BlackBerry Client that we told you RIM was working on the other day will come out on November 16th.  The big to do about RIM’s Twitter client is that it will use BIS Push allowing Tweets to be delivered instantly without having to refresh the interface.

Other features according to BBNews.pl include:

  • Notification of number of new tweets on the home screen with icon, like text messages
  • Main app opens friends timeline
  • Ability to view followers
  • Follow/unfollow functions
  • Create direct messages, replies and new tweets
  • Keyword search and saved results
  • Tweet photos directly from camera or memory card
  • View photos from other tweets
  • View trending topics
  • Address book integration

RIM Working On A Native BlackBerry Twitter Client

by Robb Dunewood on September 28, 2009 · 4 comments

Native BlackBerry Twitter Client

With the increasing popularity of Twitter and the number of BlackBerry users Tweeting from their devices, we just figured that it would be a matter of time before RIM released a native Twitter client for the BlackBerry.

According to CrackBerry:

It’ll be a BIS-B Push based handheld client leveraging RIM’s past app experiences and making use of the new components being developed within MySpace projects. It will feature core BlackBerry application integration, and be tied in to the address book, browser and device setup wizard. You can expect the user interface to be along the same lines as other RIM-built social networking apps and offer a similar experience. As for features, it’ll have everything you’d expect a twitter app these days to have, including trending topics.

I am willing to bet that, like MySpace for BlackBerry and especially Facebook for Blackerry, Twitter for BlackBerry, once released, will quickly become one of the most downloaded BlackBerry applications of all time.

Post image for TwiXtreme… There’s A New BlackBerry Twitter Client On The Block

So, if you were thinking that there just aren’t quite enough BlackBerry Twitter clients available, don’t fret, there is a new kid on the block.  TwiXtreme, from Xtreme Labs, has made it’s debut, and, though it is a bit rough around the edges (especially on the BlackBerry Storm), shows promise.

We are not ready to stop using Social Scope or even UberTwitter with the ads at this point, however, we will keep our eye on TwiXtreme to see how it progresses.

TwiXtreme is a free BlackBerry download and you can get it by pointing your device’s browser to http://www.twixtreme.com.

UberTwitter with Ads

UberTwitter, the popular BlackBerry Twitter client that saw a bit of user backlash when ads were added to Beta 4 only to be removed a day later, is adding them back to the free version of UberTwitter this Thursday.  This time, however, there will be a ad-less premium version that users who don’t want the ads can purchase.

We will be releasing a new version on Thursday and will be turning ads back on and offering a paid ad free option.

I still think that you will have a lot of UberTwitter users complain about the ads in the free version, however, their complaints won’t be nearly as legitimate since they could pay to have ads removed.  It will be interesting to see if UberTwitter can maintain its number one ranking on BlackBerry devices as there are several ad-less free Twitter clients for BlackBerry out there.

Ads Turned Off In UberTwitter Beta 4

by Robb Dunewood on August 13, 2009 · 9 comments

UberTwitter

UberTwitter Beta 4 came out yesterday and the new version incorporated advertising that brew up a storm of controversy with Twitterers that did not want ads in what is currently the most popular BlackBerry Twitter client.

UberTwitter had this to say this morning:

We will be turning the ads in UberTwitter off until we can offer an ad-free option, we have heard you all loud and clear!

Ads are now off, select ‘exit’, then re-enter uber, it will retrv one more ad, then that will be it.

UberTwitter Beta 4... Now With Ads

As you may have already heard, UberTwitter Beta 4 was released today.  What you may not have known is that ads have been added to the the top of the application and it doesn’t look like they are going over well with the UberTwitter community.

UberTwitter says that they will have a premium version of the software without the adds coming out in within the next 2 weeks, but, of course, you will have to pay for that.

Post image for UberTwitter Beta 4 Now Available

For all of you BlackBerry Twitterholics out there, UberTwitter Beta 4 has just been released.   UberTwitter, in my opinion is the best BlackBerry Twitter client readily available to everyone, and, even though I haven’t had a chance to put Beta 4 through the paces, will go on the record and say that if you use Twitter from your BlackBerry at all, UberTwitter Beta 4 is something that you will definitely want to take a look at.

UberTwitter is free BlackBerry download and you can pick it up OTA for your device by heading over to http://www.ubertwitter.com/bb/download.php.

Happy Tweeting…

SocialScope

We’ve been hearing rumors that a new version of SocialScope, one of the best BlackBerry Twitter clients available,  in my opinion, will soon get a major update.  There still is no definitive date for its release, however, the chatter has been significant over the passed week or so.

If the picture is any indication, SocialScope, looks like it has added Flickr support.  This is in addition to the Facebook integration.

The only reason that I don’t say the SocialScope is hands down the best Twitter client available for the BlackBerry is because it is still in closed beta and not everyone can get it.  Since UberTwitter is available to everyone, it currently holds the top spot.  We hear, however, that more SocialScope invites are being handed out.

If you haven’t already, sign up for Social Scope.  I was fortunate enough to get into the beta, so, I can honestly tell you that SocialScope is s BlackBerry Twitter client that you will want to have.

We’ve got a couple more pics after the jump…

BlackBerry Twitter Client Redux

BlackBerry Twitter Clients

Back in February, we ran a poll asking What BlackBerry Twitter client do you use? TwitterBerry ran away with it with over 77% of the vote.  Since then however, at least half a dozen new BlackBerry Twitter clients have come out so we figured that it is time to run another poll to see what applications BlackBerry users use to get their Twitter fix…

Loading ... Loading ...

I am sure that I’ve probably left a few BlackBerry Twitter Clients off of the list, so, if you are using one that is not listed here, let us know and I will add it to the poll.
