According to @JW, a.k.a., Josh Williams, founder and CEO of Gowalla, a location based travel game similar to FourSquare, a web based version of the application/game is coming to the BlackBerry.
Earlier today Josh Williams tweeted, “Oh wow. I just checked in from a BlackBerry Bold. BB users are going to be happy about this update to Mobile Web when it rolls.”
Gowalla is also working on a web client for Android, however, the version will have the benefit of HTML 5. It will be interesting to see what Gowalla can pull of in the BlackBerry Browser.

There is a new version of Loopt for the BlackBerry out with some pretty cool new features… My favorite being the ability to launch Loopt directly from your contacts. The map is also its own tab now, making it easier to locate your friends.

Multiplied Media, makers of the popular BlackBerry LBS application, Poynt, have updated to version 1.5.2.36 and now include local weather forecasts and local gas prices.
The really cool feature is that Poynt updates it screens to represent the weather in your area. There happens to be a Level 1 snow emergency in my area and the image is pretty accurate to what it looks like out there…
You can pick up Poynt over on BlackBerry App World, or, you can pick it up OTA by pointing your device’s browser to http://m.mypoynt.com.
One type of BlackBerry application that seems to be increasing in popularity lately is the LBS (Location Based Service) app. LBS apps are the ones the use GPS or cell tower triangulation to determine your approximate position and return local search results based on your location. Some of the more advanced LBS apps, can, not only give you directions on how to get from where you are to where you want to be, but make suggestions, show you reviews of establishments from other users, and even notifiy you when you are near a friend.
We’ve put a list of 7 Free BlackBerry LBS applications together after the jump. Take a look, tell us what you think, and let us know if there is anything we left off the list.
