I really like this BlackBerry PlayBook promo but it truly shows you a lot of cool stuff that you can do with the device as compared to trying make you believe that using one makes you cool.
Is it just me, or does RIM’s marketing team have a thing for DJs and musicians…

I was taking a look at this recent BlackBerry commercial and I am torn on whether or not I like it.
My gut tells me that that it will appeal to people who already are, and, enjoy being BlackBerry users. I wonder, however, if it will appeal to folks who aren’t aren’t, namely new smartphone users who may not have recognized anything being done on that device less, maybe, texting (I know it is BBM).
Does this BlackBerry Commercial hit its mark? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments…

I have to admit that I’ve been a fan of touch screen smartphones going all the way back to Windows Mobile devices that you had to use a stylus on. I am also on the record for saying that the the keyboard on the original BlackBerry Bold 9000 is the best physical keyboard any smartphone has ever seen. The BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 joins the best of both worlds adding a touch screen that stands on its own against the iPhone or any Android device and reintroducing the best physical QWERTY keyboard of all time.
The title of this commercial is “Harmony”, and, that is exactly what RIM has achieved on the new BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930.
Do you remember the massive amount of marketing that Verizon did with it’s Droid Does campaign and the original Motorola Droid? It’s been almost two years, but, I remember that Stealth Droid commercial like it was yesterday. That campaign pretty much marked the start of Android’s full frontal assault on the smartphone industry.
I believe that Research in Motion needs to launch that type of campaign for BlackBerry 7 and the new BlackBerry 7 smartphones for these devices to have any appeal to consumers that don’t already want a new BlackBerry, but, I haven’t seen a single television spot from RIM in recent memory that wasn’t about the BlackBerry PlayBook.

BlackBerry Messenger simply allows you to communicate in ways that people without access to it don’t understand. Can this hair stylist from India imagine a world withough BBM? Yes he can. Would he like it? Now he wouldn’t.
It looks like Research in Motion is really trying to get the word out about BlackBerry App World lately with it’s second App World commercial to come out in as many weeks. This spot features Poynt, one of my 10 greatest BlackBerry applications of all time, and, recent winner of the BlackBerry Developer’s Challenge.
