It looks like The BlackBerry Storm isn’t the only BlackBerry that has updated operating systems popping on the net. OS 4.6.0.217 for the BlackBerry Bold has made its way online.
Like with the Storm, OS 4.6.0.217 for the Bold is not an officially released OS, however, if you want to give it a go anyway, you can download it here…

As you are probably already aware, quite a few BlackBerry devices, the BlackBerry Pearl Flip, the BlackBerry Bold, the BlackBerry Storm, and the BlackBerry Javelin, have already, or, are about to launch(ed) this fall.
By the end of Q4, Research in Motion will probably have sold quite a few devices. I am guessing more than they ever have in any single quarter to come before it. The big question, however, is which BlackBerry will come out on top?
Vote, then let us know why you think what you think in the comments.

For some strange reason than I cannot even begin to comprehend, AT&T decided to release the BlackBerry Bold on today of all days. There is that little presidential election taking that is expected to have well over 130 million people casting ballots, so, good luck AT&T on capturing any news cycles beyond gadget blogs… Brilliant marketing move…
Even though the BlackBerry Bold was just released today, it really isn’t the new BlackBerry everyone is talking about. The BlackBerry Storm is the device that really has people excited and rumor has it that it will be out in the next couple of weeks or so. Don’t get me wrong, the BlackBerry Bold will do extremely well on AT&T, but, I think that missed marketing opportunity and price will keep it from having BlackBerry Pearl / BlackBerry Curve type appeal.
That being said, I believe that if Verizon is smart about things, the BlackBerry Storm will cost less than the BlackBerry Bold. Waaaay Less… And if it does it will absolutely sell like mad.

Just like they said it would be, after the two or three other times that they said it would be, the BlackBerry Bold is now officially on sale on AT&T’s website.
As I’ve said before, the AT&T Bold is expensive. It will cost you 400 bucks up front but they do give you a $100 mail-in rebate that most people willing to shell out $399 will forget to mail in.
I won’t be surprised at all to see another $100 instant rebate or something tacked on to the Bold before the holidays…

AT&T Mobile CEO, Ralph De La Vega, was on CNBC this morning talking about tomorrow’s relesase fo the much delayed BlackBerry Bold.
De La Vega said AT&T is projecting record service revenues from the new BlackBerry around the world. He said the device is already generating record revenues in Japan and in other countries where it was introduced. He continued, “BlackBerry Bold is so powerful and fast, we are expecting it to replace PC use in many cases, and data revenues will far exceed the AT&T’s subsidy cost of marketing the device.”
It looks like AT&T is expecting to make money hand over fist with the BlackBerry Bold…

We have recieved a few emails from RIMarkable readers this morning saying that the BlackBerry Bold is available in some AT&T stores right now that you can buy them a day early if you ask nicely.
One reader said “Is there anyway that I can buy one today because I will be standing in line to vote tomorrow and would love to be able to browse the internet while I am waiting.”
I haven’t been able to confirm this yet but if you hear anything like this let us know via the comments…
The BlackBerry Bold, which will sell for $299 via AT&T in the U.S. starting next Tuesday, has just seen a second price cut on the Rogers branded model from Best Buy up in Canada.
The Rogers BlackBerry Bold started off at $399.99, soon after dropped to $299.99, and now through Nov. 2th, will only set you back $199 at Best Buy and they throw in a $50 gift card essentially making the price 150 bucks.
All this makes me wonder how long it will take for AT&T and / or Best Buy to drop the price of the BlackBerry Bold once it becomes available next week? I think the Bold will do well with business users, however, $300 is pretty steep for consumers especially when the iPhone is only $199 and will be sitting literally a few feet away from the Bold.

If all of the rumors are correct three new BlackBerry devices, the BlackBerry Pearl Flip, The BlackBerry Bold, and the BlackBerry Storm, will all come out within about a month of each other. I personally like having choice, however, I wonder if these releases may be a bit too close to each other.
There is no question that RIM’s intention wasn’t to have three back to back to back releases. The BlackBerry Bold was supposed to come back during the summer but RIM and AT&T couldn’t get 3G figured out and there was the little known device, the iPhone 3G, which made its debut back then as well.
I honestly don’t know what RIM’s intentions with the BlackBerry Pearl Flip are. It is the first flip phone BlackBerry and most people that don’t read BlackBerry blogs everyday initial reaction is, “Oh when did that come out”, as they walk passed it to find the BlackBerry Curve in the T-Mobile store.
RIM, Verizon, and Vodafone appear to be throwing serious marketing dollars behind the BlackBerry Storm, RIM’s first touchscreen BlackBerry and it is definitely overshadowing the Flip and the Bold. Since all of these devices, at least for now, are exclusive to a single carrier, RIM’s thought may have been that it doesn’t matter much when we release them. I think, however, RIM forgets that with the exception of Verizon, carrier loyalty really doesn’t mean much.

There are rumors floating around that the BlackBerry Bold will go on sale today at various Best Buy locations around the country. If the rumors are true, you will pay a premium to get it.
We are hearing that the Best Buy BlackBerry Bold Price will be $349 with a 2-year contract. That is $50 dollars more than the AT&T price and $150 more than the iPhone that will be sitting about 10 feet away.
Now, I now that the BlackBerry Bold is targeting business users whereas the iPhone targets consumers. I don’t think, however, that smart business people pay 20% premiums to get devices with an expected two your shelf life a week or so earlier than everyone else.
