It’s been a while since we’ve run a contest on RIMarkable, so, we are going to make this one really easy. For a chance to win a Callet case/wallet, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling us what type of BlackBerry you use.
To ensure that BlackBerry smartphone and tablet accessories are built to a high level of quality, Research in Motion has introduced Built for BlackBerry, a program for selected partners that build accessories specifically for the BlackBerry platform.
The Built for BlackBerry program is a partnership between Research In Motion (RIM) and selected partners. These partners will develop accessories and peripherals specifically designed to work with BlackBerry® smartphones and the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet.
Built for BlackBerry products will include carrying, in-vehicle and A/V solutions. From carrying cases to audio accessories, you’ll find quality accessories built just for your device.
It will be easy to spot Built for BlackBerry branded peripherals and accessories as the Built for BlackBerry logo will be displayed on the packaging. Partners currently in the Built for BlackBerry program include:
- Case-mate — cases
- Incipio — cases
- Speck — cases
- OtterBox — cases, skins, and holsters
- iGrip — car kits and car mounts
- Trü Protection — screen protectors
- Textra — cases
We are sure that this list will continue to grow over time.
We recently did a post on Simple Mobile Review about multimedia stands for your smartphones that are under $13. If you enjoy watching movies or TV shows on your BlackBerry you should consider a stand. iCarpus is a great while sitting at your desk or in your airplane seat. Over the last year we have been huge fans of the MovieWedge, but recently we have started using iCarpus as a multimedia stand. If you travel regularly and really use your BlackBerry as a true media hub there will be times when you want to get great quality sound, but, don’t want to use headphones or ear buds. Whether it be listening to a podcast while eating room service, playing an audio book when ironing your shirt, or just listening music while relaxing on the bed, getting great quality sound from your device requires great quality external speakers. This is where the Motorola MOTOROKR EQ5 Bluetooth Portable Speaker comes in handy.
As name the implies, the Motorola MOTOROKR EQ5 Bluetooth Portable Speaker is both an external speaker, allowing you to connect it to your device via a Bluetooth connection or using the supplied audio jack, but, is also a speaker phone which will automatically switch over to speaker phone mode, keeping you from having to scramble if you get an incoming call while listening to audio via your mobile device.
The Motorola EQ5 Bluetooth Speaker and Speaker Phone is listed at $99 on many websites, and, is actually worth it at that price, however, you can currently pick it up for $26.99 on Amazon.com making it the perfect under $30 stocking stuffer.
Research in Motion has been putting out Bluetooth headsets for years and today they’ve released an entry-level unit, the Blackberry Wireless Headset HS-300. I believe this is RIM’s first sub $50 headset and you can pick it up over on ShopBlackBerry for $49.99.
BlackBerry Wireless Headset HS-300 features include:
- Smart design
- Rapid charging
- Simple pairing
- Talks to you through voice prompts
- Automatic volume control
- 4 Ear pieces
- 1 Ear hook
- BlackBerry® Micro-USB Cable
- BlackBerry® Power Plug
- User Guide
I was just taking a look at Inside BlackBerry and it looks like RIM has an new BlackBerry called the BlackBerry Presenter which allows you to wirelessly present PowerPoint, PDF, and other images directly from your BlackBerry.
The BlackBerry Presenter information page, http://www.blackberry.com/presenter (at the time of this posting) is not live yet, however, we do have system requirements and a few more pictures after the jump…
Although rumors are indicating a late September – mid October launch window for the BlackBerry Storm 2, we still don’t have an official release date, or, even an official announcement claiming that the BlackBerry Storm 2 is coming at all. This, however, hasn’t prevented Vodafone from preparing to sell accessories for their branded BlackBerry Storm 9520 whenever the device does get officially announced then released.
As you can see by the picture above Vodafone has SKUs for a BlackBerry 9520 Charging Pod and a 3 Pack of 9520 Skins in their inventory system. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we see SKUs for an actual BlackBerry Storm 9520 show up…
I just received press release that will be of interest to those really into playing video games on their their BlackBerry devices. The Zeemote JS1 Bluetooth Mobile Gaming Controller has been announced and it is compatible with all BlackBerry devices that have a trackball.

iSkin, makers of the popular iSkin Solo and Solo FX form fitting body guards for the iPhone, today, introduced iSkin Vibes for BlackBerry for the BlackBerry Storm, Bold, and Curve 8900.
I personally carry my BlackBerry around in my pocket so I am always looking for good skins to offer a little protection. I’ve heard iPhone users rave about the Solo so I may have to check out the Vibe for my BlakcBerry Storm.

Case-Mate has come up with a belt clip for the BlackBerry Bold that doubles as a rechargeable battery pack. The BlackBerry Bold 9000 Fuel effectively adds 50% to the life of your BlackBerry Bold battery life…
Extended Battery Life Features
- Talk time: up to 7 additional hours beyond standard BlackBerry Bold battery life
- Stand by time: up to 20 additional days beyond standard BlackBerry Bold battery life
- Power on/off button makes more efficient usage of the fuel by only engaging when you decide to
- Fully ratcheting 180-degree belt clip
- Easy slide in/out access to your BlackBerry Bold
I am not really a belt clip kind of BlackBerry user, but, if I were this might be a cool way to get more use out of your Bold while out and about.
