After a couple of missed rumored release dates, the BlackBerry 8703e from Verizon is officially for sale.
You may want to call if you want to get the pricing because it appears that they have mistake in the pricing on the web. According to the site, the BlackBerry 8703e costs $349 and comes with a $100 online rebate if you get a two year service plan for a total of $249. If you only get a one year plan, however, the cost is $399. Either the base price is wrong or the online rebate amount is wrong.
Whatever the case, Verizon subscribers have been waiting almost a year since the release of the 8700c and the 8703e is now available for them.

Verizon has recently put up a device simulator for the BlackBerry 8703e over on the Verizon Wireless website. It is actually kind of cool if you have never used a BlackBerry before. It allows you to simulate various activities that you would perform with your BlackBerry such as composing a message, using the web browser, or sending a TXT message. It also simulates more complex tasks like creating a BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) email account.

Research in Motion, today announced that BlackBerry 8703e will be released this coming Sunday. This announcement, in and of itself, is a pretty big deal. The last QWERTY BlackBerry released on Verizon was the BlackBerry 7250 which came out several years ago. The thing that I don’t understand, however, is why Research in Motion would announce that the BlackBerry 8703e on the same day that the BlackBerry Pearl is to be released.
The BlackBerry Pearl, is arguably the biggest release of a new device to date for RIM. Many may not like the SureType keyboard and some may think that a BlackBerry with a camera is a horrible idea, however, I predict that the BlackBerry Pearl will be the biggest selling BlackBerry device to date. What marketing genius decided to dilute the “mad dash to get a Pearl” hoopla with the release of a new 87xx series device. From the other side of it, how many will notice an announcement about a new BlackBerry that doesn’t have a Camera when they see posters plastered all over T-Mobile stores of a BlackBerry with a camera.

The Verizon BlackBerry 8703e will officially be released this coming Sunday, September 18th. I know that we have had the date wrong not just once, but two times before, however, this time we are getting the release date straight from the horse’s mouth, or webpage as it were…
The BlackBerry 8703e is available from Verizon Wireless for $349.99 with a new two-year customer agreement beginning on Sunday, September 17 online and through Verizon Wireless business sales channels on Monday, September 18. It will be available though Verizon Wireless Communications Stores in October. BroadbandAccess Connect is available to BlackBerry 8703e customers for $15 monthly access in conjunction with a qualifying voice plan and unlimited data plan; or $30 monthly access in conjunction with an unlimited data plan. A RIMarkable reader who just happens to work for the United States House of Representatives told me that they, they being Congress and its employees, were offered a special pre-release option for the BlackBerry 8703e from Verizon and that they just started showing up today.
This rumor will undoubtedly be dwarfed by the release of the BlackBerry Pearl tomorrow, however, for those Verizon subscribers still waiting for an 87XX series BlackBerry, hopefully, our wait will end soon.

Rumor has it that the Verizon branded BlackBerry 8700 model, the BlackBerry 8703e, is coming out next Monday. When that Rumor first surfaced, we put out a picture of what many thought the BlackBerry 8703 would look like. From the looks of it, we weren’t that far off.
A new BlackBerry Forums member calling themselves miamirain has posted a few very low quality live pictures of the upcoming BlackBerry 8703e.
