T-Mobile BlackBerry 8800 Now Available in Germany… Won’t Hit U.S. Until April

February 20, 2007 by Robb Dunewood 8 Comments

Update: T-Mobile has just officially announced the BlackBerry 8800 in the United States…

I was just reading a couple of posts over on BlackBerry Cool that indicate that the BlackBerry 8800 is available on T-Mobile in Germany and that it will be available on T-Mobile here in the U.S. in April.

According to the T-Mobile Germany site it looks like the BlackBerry 8800 has been available on their site since Feb. 13th, the day that it was unveiled at the 3GSM World Congress. The German T-Mobile BlackBerry 8800 will cost EUR 179.95 with a 24-month contract on the Relax 100 rate.

As far as the U.S. goes, the T-Mobile BlackBerry 8800 will be available in April.

BlackBerry Cool reader Darien received this email from his T-Mobile rep talking about a new VoIP phone and the BlackBerry 8800:

As you know T-Mobile USA has been working to stay on the cutting edge of the wireless industry. To this end we have been working to introduce products that will showcase our position as the premier carrier in the US. We are the only carrier that is introducing a Voice Over IP (VoIP) cell phone that will be available in March…Imagine unlimited calling to anywhere in the world from a WiFi environment…at home or at a T-Mobile Hotspot. Please review the first link for more information. The second link gives you a look at the newest BlackBerry the BlackBerry 8800 that will be released in April. It has the full keyboard like the BlackBerry 8700 in a sleek case like the BlackBerry Pearl.

The BlackBerry 8800 link being referred to is the BlackBerry8800.com website.

Actually, this page here says that the 8800 will be available from T-Mobile Germany starting in March and not any earlier.
