NTP is back in the news today, however, believe it or not, it isn’t because they are suing someone over patent infringement. This time the shoe is on the other foot as NTP is the defendant in a patent infringement case.
Oren Tavory, a 43 year old software developer living in West Palm Beach, FL. filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Richmond, Va. requesting that a judge issue a court order naming him as co-inventor on seven NTP patents and accusing NTP of copyright infringement and unjust enrichment.

I have never really been above shameless self promotion so excuse me as I pat myself on the back a bit and tell you that RIMarkable has been featured on Performancing’s Partner Blog Spotlight…
I just happened to be watching the NBA on TNT last night and noticed that the halftime show was sponsored by T-Mobile My Faves. There were several commercials with NBA champ
Dwayne Wade and NBA legend Charles Barkley where D-Wade was trying to convince Sir Charles to put him in his Fave 5 list. As soon as one of the commercials shows up on YouTube I will link to it.

I was just reading BlackBerry Cool which lead me to a post on SmartPhone Today which is claiming that the term CrackBerry has won the John Wiley & Sons Webster’s New World College Dictionary Word-of-the-Year Contest.
For 2006, the lexicographers and researchers for the dictionary picked a word that not only defines the addictive nature of not just Research In Motion’s (RIM) BlackBerry handhelds, but all smartphones, cell phones and PDAs that have come to integrate QWERTY thumb-keyboards and enable users to stay connected wherever they are, at all times.
I just did a search for the term CrackBerry here on RIMarkable and it showed up in 37 different posts over the last two years. That is almost 4% of the total posts that we’ve ever written.

It looks like the George Stelling, the CIO of Nvidia, just might be a BlackBerry addict.
In a Forbes.com Executive Toy Box, Nvidia’s top tech guy says that his BlackBerry 8700 is “Like Oxygen”. “I need it. It’s with me everywhere, even at the gym.”
If George could make three changes to his BlackBerry he would add satellite radio, add the ability to download and play news clips and and videos, and finally add voice recognition software that would allow him to dictate email while in the car.
George may be a bit behind the times on the capabilities of his BlackBerry. Aside from satellite radio, the BlackBerry can do all the other things on George’s wishlist.

As you can see on the picture to the right, the BlackBerry Pearl is featured on the cover of the November issue of Laptop Magazine.
The Pearl is one of 6 new smartphones profiled in the SmartPhone Showdown. Although we don’t know if the BlackBerry Pearl won the Showdown, a subscription is required to find out, we will assume that since the Pearl appears on the the cover, it at least placed near the top.
If any RIMarkable readers have a subscription to Laptop magazine feel free to leave us a comment and tell us how the BlackBerry Pearl did.

Over on blip.tv there is a video of a guy creating a blog post from his BlackBerry 8700c. I have posted the occasional blog entry here on RIMarkable using my BlackBerry, however, unlike in the video where the blogger is actually posting via the web, I use the email to post functionality built into my blog engine.
Now that BlackBerrys are coming with a bit more horse power and expandable memory, I would like to see blogging from your BlackBerry or BerryBlogging as I like to call it move to the next level. I think that a blog editor that would allow you to incorporate images that you take with your BlackBerry or have stored somewhere in memory would be really cool.
